Silverfruit

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, curved trunk covered in thin, cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale brown.

The small handful of branches are short and thin and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are bronze on the edges and purple at the center.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, aquamarine blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like leather.

In late summer it produces large, stiff, pointed fruit. The leathery drab green skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy dark brown flesh is sweet and bitter and very juicy. The lime seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
