Silverneedle

This average-sized tree grows up to 55 meters (180.5 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thick, rough, brown bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The branches are short, thin and wispy, with thousands of twigs covered with small bunches of huge, silver needles. The needles themselves are resilient.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, ashy orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
