Purple Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This big tree grows up to 81 meters (265.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 274 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in rough, yellow bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small amounts of rough, giant, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid subtle purple with black edges.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, amber blossoms with long, narrow petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like apple.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
