Split Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 5 stiff, pointed stems. Each stem is gray or amber, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid grey spines. The cuboid body is yellow, and is covered in handfuls of flexible magenta spines.

It is slow growing, taking 25 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are red on the underside and cream on the top grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has an intense scent that smells like a man.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the dark brown flesh is soft, and the violet sap is thin.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
