Indigo Sky Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The pleated stem is gray-green, and is covered in large amounts of fine, bronze, hair-like spines. The angular, deep orange trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its blood red branches are short and thick and start growing halfway up the stem.

The handfuls of wavy-edged, circular leaves are brown on the edges and indigo at the center. They are flimsy, but take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 30 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with black petals on the lower layer and azure petals decorated with slate dots on the inner layer. The central disk is azure grow at the top, reappearing once every 5 years. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced narrow petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like new carpet.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the sky blue flesh is waxy, and the sky blue sap is thin.
