Copper

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This short flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its silver stem is thick, and the giant, copper leaves are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Many small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are cream on the edges and magenta at the center. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 51 widely spaced, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like fish, and it has lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.


It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
