Violet

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 33 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, wrinkled, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The sparse amount of branches are very short and slender and are covered with small amounts of large, fan-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either violet, or sky blue with dull orange splotches.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of small, green blossoms with circular petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like fermented fruit.

In mid-summer it produces very large, finger-like fruit. The soft hazel skin is peel-able and sweet, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is bitter and very juicy. The crimson seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
