Sickleleaf Blossom
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is thin and splits into numerous branching stems at the top, and the tiny, gray-green leaves are sickle shaped with jagged edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.
Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are green on the underside and white on the top. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of widely spaced round-tipped petals. They detach easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like rotten eggs, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
