Mahogany

This huge fruit tree grows up to 69 feet (21.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of huge, needle-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid white or amber, with blue splotches.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of tiny, grey blossoms with fan-like petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like garlic.

In early autumn it produces , oval fruit. The leathery blood red skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet and salty, and the soft violet flesh is sweet and powdery. The lime seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
