Magenta

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in hard, waxy, silver bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The branches are long and thick and are covered with small amounts of small, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either magenta or cyan, with amber dots.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, cream blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like wet dog.

In late autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The fuzzy yellow skin is peel-able and bitter and savoury, and the slightly crunchy violet flesh is sour and very juicy. The bronze seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
