Coppervine

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 133 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several stocky, twisting stems covered in fine, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of huge, flame-shaped, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid white or amber, with blue splotches, flexible and leathery.

In late spring it produces many clusters of medium-sized, brown blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like vomit.

In mid-autumn tiny fan-like fruits ripen. The crispy orange skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is overwhelmingly savoury, and the very soft violet flesh is sweet and dry. The silver seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.
