Silvervine

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 290 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in knobbly, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is mahogany-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of leathery, tiny, perforated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are bold yellow and caramel.

In early spring, it produces many tiny, vibrant purple blossoms with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have an intensely strong scent that smells like apple.

In late summer it forms small, azure aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
