Slate Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 6 wispy stems. Each stem is slate or yellow, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 12 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are crimson in the center, aquamarine in the middle and cream at the edges grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 27 widely spaced narrow petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like rich perfume.

The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the turquoise flesh is sticky, and the azure sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
