Goldenberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, angular trunk covered in waxy, light gray bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of tiny, long, tapering leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine at the bottom and lilac with deep red patches at the top.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, gold blossoms with 4 pointed petals. They fall easily and have no scent.

In mid-summer it produces small, oval fruit. The hairy muted orange skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy olive flesh is salty and sticky. The red seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
