Mahogany

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 187 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of knobbly, straight stems covered in thin, waxy, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are very short and thin that and are covered with large amounts of large, thick, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either brilliant yellow, or cyan with peach patches, rigid and rough.

It produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, sky blue flowers with finger-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like cheap aftershave. In mid-autumn it forms giantcyan berries.

The grains are bitter, but very healthy and overwhelmingly spicy.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
