Copperstem

This small cactus grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 5 very narrow, elongated stems. Each stem is red, and is dotted with small white spines.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with green petals and a copper central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 57 raised, narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like musk.

The cactus's skin is thin, the blood red flesh is rough, and the slate sap is thin.
