Caramel Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 69 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in delicate, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The small bunches of branches are long and slender and are covered with thick bunches of huge, thick leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in washed-out orange, caramel and amber varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of large, lime blossoms with 7 V-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like roses.

In early winter it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The clammy copper skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft light brown flesh is spicy and oily. The grey seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
