Mahogany

This average-sized tree grows up to 54 meters (177.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 572 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of covered in fine hairs, giant, broad, flat leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and lime.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, beige blossoms with 5 cylindrical shaped petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like citrus.

In late summer it forms large, white, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
