Copperwood

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is dark brown.

The sparse amount of branches are short and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of large, finger-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are either olive or copper, with amber edges.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, intense orange blossoms with 7 oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an intense scent that smells like coconut.

In early winter it produces , cuboid fruit. The crispy amber skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the crunchy bold yellow flesh is bitter and very dry. The silver seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
