Violet

This small flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 4 and are wispy and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the miniature, moss green leaves are fan-like with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

1 to 5 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are violet in the center, cream in the middle and pink at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 36 raised, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has an intense scent that smells like skunk spray, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
