Turquoise

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is dark brown.

The abundance of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid yellow or turquoise, with pastel orange lines.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, faded purple blossoms with pleated petals. They are hardy and have a powerful scent that smells like sweat.

In early autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The fuzzy subtle yellow skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft purple flesh is spicy and very juicy. The drab orange seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
