Amberfruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in ridged, gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.

The thick clumps of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of giant, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gold and amber.

In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, crimson blossoms with sickle shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like musk.

In early autumn it produces , long, narrow fruit. The fuzzy orange skin is thin and inedible, and the soft black flesh is sweet and very dry. The bold orange seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
