Knobblewood

This average-sized tree grows up to 58 meters (190.3 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 445 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, dark brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of waxy, tiny, asymmetrical leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are generally slate.

In late summer it forms large, yellow aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
