Scarletvine

Flower type: Perennial (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its red stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 8 and are thick and straight, and split into numerous branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the tiny, moss green leaves are sickle shaped with irregular edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Dozens of medium-sized flowers grow in drooping bunches like grapes. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with alternating petals of slate and brown, with a silver central disk. The flower head is largely flat with 30 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like sugar, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It can grow in even the most barren lands.
It is suitable for making strong rope
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
