Blueberry Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This big fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wavy trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is silver.

The excessive amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of giant, asymmetrical leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and pale purple.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, azure blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like petrol.

In late autumn it produces , perforated fruit. The crispy grey skin is thin and edible when boiled; it is bitter and sour, and the very soft deep blue flesh is sweet and spicy and sticky. The white seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It can survive a very long time without water.
It is suitable for making paper
