Orange Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is orange, and is covered in brittle hazel spines. The spherical body is lime green, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid subtle green petals and a crimson central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 7 years. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like rotten egg.

The cactus's skin is thin, the dark blue flesh is rough, and the silver sap is thin.


It coexists peacefully with other plants.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It can flourish even in standing water.
