Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 55 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, dark gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy-brown.
The excessive amount of branches are very short and thin and are covered with handfuls of miniature, long, narrow leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in sky blue and indigo varieties.
In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, red blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like an ocean breeze.
In late summer it produces , fan-like fruit. The fuzzy black skin is thin and sweet, and the crunchy violet flesh is savoury and very dry. The caramel seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
