Pink-red Succulent

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 31 feet (9.4 meters) tall. The narrow stem is pink-red, and is covered in sharp spines.

It is slow growing, taking 32 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with blue petals on the lower layer and cream petals decorated with dark brown dots on the inner layer. The central disk is silver grows at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 49 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has an intense scent that smells like rotten eggs.

The cactus's skin is delicate, the turquoise flesh is rubbery, and the peach sap is thin.


It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
