Magenta Vine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large shrub grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for around 93 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has several slender, angular stems covered in fine, wrinkled, brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, perforated, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are magenta on the sides and peach at the center, robust and soft.
In early spring it produces a handful of tiny, lime flowers with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like soap.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
every part of the vine is extremely toxic.
