Bloodwood Pine

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2982 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in thick, silky, burgundy bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The abundance of branches are very long, thin and wispy, covered with sparse amounts of miniature, red needles. The needles themselves are resilient.

In late summer it produces small, blood red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
