Sunfire Blossom
Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its orange-yellow stem is thick, and the huge, silver leaves are dark brown on the underside and are long, narrow with tattered edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
A single giant flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with blue petals that gradient shift to bright orange on the outer edge. The central disk is black. The flower head is made up of several petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight sphere. They fall easily.
It has a delicate scent that smells like cherry, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
