Bloodvine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for around 10 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many branched, wavy stems covered in very thick, rough, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with copious amounts of large, sickle shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are solid blood red or caramel, with slate lines, frail and fuzzy.

In early spring it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, olive blossoms with 9 triangular shaped petals. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like a woman.

In early autumn oblong fruits ripen. The hairy white skin is thick and inedible, and the soft light grey flesh is bitter and oily. The green seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.
