Golden Spine Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 3 needle-like stems. Each stem is yellow-green, and is covered in many rigid white spines.

It is slow growing, taking 34 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of caramel grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of 20 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like cigarette smoke.

The cactus's skin is tough, the grey flesh is leathery, and the gold sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
