Purple Winding Vine

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thin, and the tiny, azure or slate leaves are thick with jagged edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

5 to 11 small flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with purple petals and a yellow center. The flower head is largely flat with 32 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a strong scent that smells like soap, and it has very little pollen. It is a self-pollinator, but is also particularly attractive to bees.
