Blackwood

This large tree grows up to 70 meters (229.7 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in thin, cracked, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.

The small handful of branches are short and thin, with dozens of twigs covered with very large amounts of huge, orange-yellow needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces medium-sized, blood red, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
