Clinging Crimson Vine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 23 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, straight stems covered in hard, waxy, brown-green speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches are short and slender that and are covered with large amounts of large, pleated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in faded purple, blood red and lilac varieties, durable and soft.

In late spring it produces many balls of small, crimson flowers with spiral shaped petals. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like coconut.

It comes in 10 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
