Indigo Petal

This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its orange stem is very thick, and the miniature, yellow leaves are oval-shaped with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two giant flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 1 cm (0.4 inches) wide, with petals that are pale purple at the sides and indigo at the center. The flower head is made up of 45 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like old shoes, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
