Turquoise Fruit Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in hard, ridged, light gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is yellow-brown.

The small bunches of branches are long and thick and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, needle-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are cream and gold.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of tiny, turquoise blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

In early summer it produces , wide fruit. The sticky ashy green skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy gold flesh is slightly spicy and powdery. The slate seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
