Indigo Maple

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 42 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of branched, crooked stems covered in thin, waxy, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very long and thin that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, oval-shaped, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue or violet, with indigo patches, tough and crispy.

It produces many tiny, orange flowers with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cherry. In early winter it forms tinylime, spiky-shelled seeds.
