Silverpine

Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1972 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in thick, rough, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The excessive amount of branches are very short and thin, with hundreds of twigs covered with large amounts of small, orange-yellow needles. The needles themselves are robust.

In late summer it produces small, yellow, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It makes excellent hedges.
