Amberleaf Succulent

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized leaf succulent grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is green, and is covered in brittle muted orange spines. The smooth-edged, thick leaves are found in pink and lilac varieties. Small amounts of them grow from the base in alternating pairs. The leaves are strong, and take little effort to detach.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with green petals and a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of several petals in raised layers. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like varnish.

The leaf succulent's skin is thin, the light green flesh is smooth, and the amber sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

It is suitable for making paper
The sap is edible and slightly spicy.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
