Flame Moss

This orange moss is commonly found blanketing small areas In heathlands, and In marshes.
It is small, growing up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are slow to spread and grow, and is slightly rigid; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
