Copperleaf

This giant shrub grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 141 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, straight stems covered in waxy, brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of giant, thin, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid brilliant orange or hazel, with slate patches, light and clammy.

In mid-spring it produces many large, red flowers with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like apple.
