Burgundy Tree

This modest-sized tree grows up to 40 meters (131.2 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 66 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, burgundy bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with small amounts of clammy, small, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of orange-yellow that gradient shifts to red at the top.

In late summer it forms large, lime, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
