Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This colossal bine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 1,363 feet (415.4 meters) and growing as high as 756 feet (230.4 meters). It prefers to grow on man-made objects.
It takes 49 years for the orange-yellow or dark purple stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 4.8 feet (1.4 meters) and are smooth and fuzzy.
The wide, smooth leaves reach up to 3.4 feet (1.0 meters) in length. They are found in violet and copper varieties, and have smooth edges.
During late spring, the bine produces copious amounts of large hazel flowers, and during the late autumn, after flowering, it produces a modest amount of small berries.
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
