Violet Fanbrush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This big shrub grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 108 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several long and flexible, curved stems covered in paper-thin, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of huge, fan-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are generally violet, frail and smooth.

It produces thick bunches of medium-sized, yellow flowers with 4 pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like cheap aftershave. In late winter it forms medium-sizedintense yellow, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The pollen is overwhelmingly toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is suitable for making paper
