Sunset Purple

This big flower grows up to 6.4 feet (2.0 meters) tall. Its yellow and faded orange stem is wispy and straight with a curved tip, and the giant, orange-yellow leaves are white on the underside and are wide with jagged edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

A single large flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 63 cm (24.8 inches) wide, with petals that are dark purple in the center, bold red in the middle and hazel at the edges. The flower head is largely flat with several tightly layered narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has a soft scent that smells like freshly washed clothes, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
