Blackwood

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This massive tree grows up to 117 meters (383.9 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2763 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in thick, smooth, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The small bunches of branches are very long, thin and wispy, with dozens of twigs covered with thick bunches of large, gray-green needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces tiny, cream, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
