Bronzebell

This huge shrub grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 102 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, wavy stems covered in thin, rough, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, needle-like, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are hazel with pink tips, frail and clammy.

It produces copious amounts of medium-sized, red flowers with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a powerful scent that smells like lemon. In early winter it forms tinybronze, tough-shelled seeds.
