Emerald Blue Cup

This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thin, and the miniature, copper leaves are dark moss green on the underside and are thick with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

3 to 8 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are purple on the edges and vivid blue at the center. The flower head is shaped like a cup made up of 12 raised, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like mint, and it has lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is visited by a large variety of them.
